Hello all,
My name is Zaria Zarkova and currently I live in Norwich, United Kingdom. I’m a Graphic Design student in Norwich University College of the Arts, specialising mainly in brand and corporate identity, packaging design, advertising and visual communication. At the same time I focus on developing my artistic, web design and publishing skills which gives me the great opportunity to work on projects from different design areas.
As a whole I consider myself as a creative person interested in art, design and advertising. I focus on what makes things attractive for people and how this affects their way of thinking. In my professional experience I have many areas of expertise because I enjoy combining different ideas and developing concepts. What I find important is the final result.
History
At the age of 14-15 I taught myself how to create vector and raster graphics using software products such as Adobe Photoshop, Paintshop Pro and Corel Draw. My passion for design started when I looked at magazines and I was impressed by some provisional and stylish posters. Also when I was viewing different web pages on the Internet I was curious what is their design and creation process.
At the age of 16 I taught myself HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) in order to develop web pages. At that time I mainly used the Microsoft FrontPage and the Web Page Make software products. At the age of 17 I improved my computer and hand drawing skills and started studying and practicing photography.
Experience
So far I have been a freelancer specialising mainly on graphic design, web-design and any kind of art solution with commercial purposes. I have also been a full-time employed graphics designer in Extreme Design Studio-Sofia, Bulgaria. Another significant role in my career development is my work placement in Accent Design Group-Norwich, UK where I had the opportunity to work in a team and in a professional environment on several different projects.
Spare time
In my free time I draw, surf on the Internet, watch TV, read books, newspapers, magazines and all sorts of brochures to maintain my design knowledge level and to collect new information in relation to my interests. I am also very active on pages like:
As an important part of my daily life is looking for art&design inspiration. That’s why I keep my RSS feeds open and read them whenever I can. Here are some of my favourite websites:
In addition to my academic interests I enjoy taking photos, reading fashion magazines, watching unusual films, listening to music, playing table tennis and having a walk in the mountains with friends.
